So I am really considering biking with Leia. I like to bike (but don't own one right now) and I think she could learn to enjoy getting to run along side. It would also make it easier for me to help burn her extra energy.
A few links for my own reference and for anyone who might also be interested in biking with their pup:
How to Ride a Bicycle with Your DogThe downside to this whole thing, is of course, the price. The two "bike bars" (the thing that keeps your dog attached and out from under the wheels) of choice are a bit expensive. The "Walky Dog Bike Leash" is about $50 and the "Running-Dog Bike Tow Leash" is about $150 (ouch). It might take some saving but hey, we can make due until we can ride together.
What is the difference in the WalkyDog & Bike Tow Leash?
8:30PM - Thank GOD Leia is good on a leash... It's been raining all day and as we walked outside and turned the corner and there, in front of us, a snake was whipping across the sidewalk.
It wasn't huge but was probably a foot and 5 inches long and looked like it had a viper's head (the arrow head with rounded back). Not sure which species it was as the light was not in our favor but I am so glad she stopped with me because otherwise the night could have ended painfully for us both. That snake looked agitated and wasn't just cruising. We carefully steered around it and enjoyed the rest of our walk but hey, this is one more reason to lead your dog and not let your dog lead.
